Customer

Sirman was founded over 50 years ago by Nereo Marzaro and is a market leader in the production of professional kitchen equipment. Its headquarters in Curtarolo, Padua, is a cutting-edge center for the design and production of professional machinery such as slicers, ovens and seasoners. Present all over the world, USA, China and Brazil to name a few, makes it a globalized company and therefore attentive to market trends and ready to constantly innovate.

Development

The methodology used for managing activities is Agile, in particular the Scrum framework. Initially, all the minimum requirements were identified - which form the first Product Backlog - for the creation of the MVP version. The development time was then divided into stable time periods, the Sprints. In each Sprint, a certain number of requirements present in the Product Backlog are implemented, which has always been expanded over time. At the end of each Sprint, what has been done is released to the customer in order to have immediate feedback and therefore be able to calibrate the subsequent Sprints on the real needs.

  • Iterative development: Our approach to project development includes the following methods:
    • Meeting to define the first Product Backlog and the priorities of the features to be created;
    • The work will then be divided into iterations - Sprints - of 2 weeks each;
    • At the end of each Sprint there will be a meeting with the customer (in person or remotely) where the features created are presented for examination.
    • In the sprint review, the activities to be carried out in the next one are chosen.
  • Fun fact: the project was born in 2018 and is still ongoing. Since the first official release of the first MVP, version 1.0.0, there have been many releases that have brought many small new features and even revolutions (two major releases underway). We have almost reached 100 Sprints!

Project goal

Optimize the management of professional kitchen machinery through remote monitoring, improving operational efficiency and providing the user with a user-friendly system.

Project Description

The SRCS system monitors and controls in real time various kitchen machinery such as slicers, cutters and packaging machines. IoT devices are integrated with sensors that collect data on the operating parameters of the machinery, such as temperature, operating status, energy consumption and wear of the components.

Main Features

  • Machine association: Association of a machine connected to the cloud starting from a serial code;
  • Real Time Monitoring: Viewing the operating status of kitchen machinery;
  • Recipe management: It is possible to save, edit and share recipes with other users. Each recipe can be started from the application remotely.
  • Energy Consumption Tracking: Monitoring of energy consumption to identify inefficiencies and optimize the use of resources;
  • Alarm Management: Instant notifications in case of anomalies or malfunctions, with specific details for rapid problem resolution;
  • Reporting and Analysis: Detailed reports on machinery performance, with trend analysis and recommendations for improvements.

Expected Benefits

  • Increased Operational Efficiency: Optimization of the use of energy resources through monitoring and analysis of consumption.
  • Ease of Use and Accessibility:
    • User-friendly system that allows intuitive and immediate management of machinery.
    • Remote access to data and system features from any device connected to the Internet.
  • Decision Support:
    • Data-based recommendations to improve efficiency and productivity.

Conclusion

The SRCS system represents an innovative solution for the management of machinery in the catering sector, offering significant benefits in terms of efficiency, safety and sustainability. Its implementation can radically transform the way professional kitchens operate, ensuring a better and more reliable service.
